Your role

  • Working in the interface between algorithms, optical design, and system engineering, you will develop visions and prototypes for future products.
  • Model, simulate, and evaluate sub-wavelength structures in photonic devices and optical systems that are crucial for the entire application spectrum of the ZEISS Group.
  • Advance our simulation capabilities by interfacing to both proprietary and ZEISS-owned software and developing the latter further.
  • Initiate and drive corresponding activities.

Your profile

  • A university degree in physics, computer science or mathematics and excellent programming skills - a PhD would be a plus.
  • Proven and recognized expertise in simulation and modelling in both theory and implementation.
  • State-of-the-art overview of latest research and industry trends in nano-structured surfaces, particularly in optical and acoustic effects.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience on how to develop simulations at scale and optimize regarding speed and efficiency.
  • Expertise in mathematical modeling and numerical methods, including finite element analysis (FEA), finite difference time domain (FDTD), and other computational techniques.
  • Proficiency in using rigorous electro-magnetic solvers, e.g. JCMwave, COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS Lumerical or respective open-source packages.
  • A passion for programming with a solid background in Python.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - the vision and hands-on mindset to make your ideas come to life in ZEISS products.
